Sunday, June 10, 2007

Shilpa Shetty has supported the decision by Britain's Channel 4 television network to kick out contestant Emily Parr for calling a housemate "nigger" on the popular 'Big Brother' reality show. "I'm glad they took a stand. It's a good thing; it's a positive thing. I'm glad Channel 4 did what they did," said Shilpa, who shot to global fame after successfully fighting off racism and bullying on the celebrity version of the show earlier this year.Emily Parr, a 19-year-old student from Bristol, was evicted from the show for calling Charlie Uchea, who is black, a "nigger". Stung by criticism over racist comments and bullying when Shetty was on 'Big Brother', Channel 4 and producer Endemol swiftly removed Parr from the show.
